Nail Care for Warm Summer Weather

There’s nothing like warm, sunny weather to get us out and about, playing and partying to our hearts’ content. It’s all good fun until we take a look at our nails, and realize that they’re paying the price for our good times. Not to worry – here are some tips to keep your nails looking their best all through the season.

Finger and toenails are really like extensions of our skin, and they need some TLC to help them stave off the drying effects of sun, salt, soil, and chlorine. To keep your manicure looking its best, and to help it protect your nails, apply an extra coat of topcoat before venturing out. You’ll probably also want to keep some of your polish color on hand too for any little touchups you may need between appointments.

If you’ll be working in the garden, always, always, always, wear gloves. They’ll not only protect your manicure, they’ll also help keep your cuticles from drying out. For an extra boost, apply some cuticle oil every night. It will also help prevent hangnails.

You probably already have a good moisturizing routine, but it’s important to include fingers and toes, too. It’s best to apply it right after your shower while you’re still a bit damp to really seal in that hydration. If you’ll be traveling by air this summer, be sure to apply more lotion before taking off. Of course, the best way to help hydrate your nails is to make sure you’re properly hydrated on the inside, too. Your whole body will thank you for it.
