It’s easy to be focused on women’s haircuts, trends, and styles but what about the guys? Men like professional, trendy looking hair as well. That’s why at Five Senses Spa, Salon & Barbershop, makes sure we are up-to-date on the latest men’s hairstyles for you. A great cut you’ve probably heard of is the fade haircut. It’s versatile, stylish, and easy to maintain with regular trims. Here’s a quick rundown on the different types of fades to choose from:

The scissor fade: Well, this is more of a technique than a style. Our expert barber uses scissors, in lieu of clippers, to shape the fade so it fits to your head shape. It’s a natural-looking cut with very little, or no, scalp showing.

The taper fade: This is similar to the scissor fade but doesn’t involve the time of hand-scissoring. The fade starts low on the neck, has almost no scalp exposed, and looks very polished and finished. If you’re wanting a fade with a natural look, this is the cut for you.

The low fade: For this style, the fade starts low on your head and close to the skin’s surface. The fade tapers up into the longer, styled hair on your crown. Although it’s less blunt than others that show more skin, it’s trendy for a night out but clean and stylish enough for the office. If you have a beard or have been wanting to go for it, a beard complements well, just be sure to keep it well-groomed to match the style.

The mid-fade: This starts above the ears, mid-way up your head with the bottom fading up to the longer hair on top. It’s more pronounced than the low fade but not quite as noticeable or intense as the high fade. This style is very popular right now, can go great with a longer beard, and allows for longer styling on top.

The high fade: If you’re wanting to be daring and bold this summer, try the high fade. This style shows scalp on much of the sides and back of your head. Very short hair on top works best with this style due to how high up it starts on the lower part of your head. Of course, with every cut there are variations so work with your stylist to find the right length for the look you are wanting.

When you visit your barber at Five Senses Spa, Salon & Barbershop, they will work with you to determine your head shape and if a fade will work for you. There is some upkeep involved with fades, especially the high fade that shows more scalp, but overall this can be a very fashion-forward look for you.
